Radio Controlled Boats

Maybe you've been 'toying' with the idea of getting into the radio controlled boats hobby. You've had some experience with toy grade radio controlled vehicles, but you are ready for more. Or are you?

If you are serious about the radio controlled boats hobby you know that there are several considerations: cost, repair and maintenance, time-commitment, choosing a type of vehicle, driving it and maybe even racing. Whew...that's a lot to think about. But if you are going to get involved in radio controlled boating, you should take the time to understand all that is involved.

Hobby-grade radio controlled boats will certainly cost a lot more to purchase and maintain than the toy models. They are more complex and have more parts that can break and need replacement. However, for some of us, half the fun of the radio controlled boats hobby is upgrading our boats and customizing them.

Where do you start? Good question! My suggestion is a ready-to-run electric sport boat with a deep-vee hull design for a first time radio controlled boat owner.

Starting with electricradio controlled boats is less expensive and requires a little less maintenance than a nitro or gas boat. These boats are easier to control...an important consideration for the novice boater. This is a great way to initially get out on the water with a radio controlled boat.

Eventually you will most likely want a vehicle with better handling or a little more speed, and will want to 'upgrade'. No problem, you will know when the time is right, and having some experience will help you make an informed decision.

So get out there! Get your new radio controlled boat in the water and start having fun!
